What a way to win your first game of the season! With former Golden State forward Harrison Barnes embracing a new role with Dallas, he took advantage of that dropping 34 points on 50% shooting (2/5 from 3 pt range) and snagging 8 rebounds. With his 2nd 30+ point game this season, Barnes has now eclipsed more 30+ games this season then he had in his career in Golden State. Another former Warrior, Andrew Bogut, had a pretty solid day attacking the rim with his 16 rebounds. However, scoring 2 points isn’t always going to cut it so the scoring there needs to improve. J.J Barea had an excellent complimentary game with his 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists – pretty good numbers for a guard to have on any given night. Defensively, the Mavericks were in control for a lot of the night causing the Bucks to turn over the ball 27 times and capitalizing by scoring 21 points off those turnovers. Up and coming star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo turned the ball over 5 times and went 4/12 from the field, finishing with 11 points. Former Cleveland Cavalier guard Matthew Dellavedova also turned the ball over 5 times and finished with just 2 points on 1/7 shooting for the Bucks. Great win and defensive display for the Mavericks who head to LA to play the Lakers on Tuesday. As for the Bucks, they’ll be going over the film and will go on a well needed rest period as they look to welcome star forward Anthony Davis and the winless New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.
